*Join us this Sunday (August 2, 2009) for worship and missions week. Bro. Paul Kitzmiller will be our guest speaker. He will be reporting about the Lord’s work in the Ukraine. There will be a pitch up dinner after church in the fellowship hall. Bro. Mike will finish his sermon series entitled “The Gifts of God” next Sunday. The series will look at how we use our choices, time, abilities, and sexuality. The best of God’s gifts is His grace given through Jesus Christ.
*Six of our young people are serving the Lord with the Missionaries to America Program (MAP) based in Arkansas. They will be spending their time in Bible classes, serving at a Bible Camp in Indiana, and leading a VBS at a theme park in Arkansas.
*This year we had three High School graduates – Janee Redd, Deanna Moreland, and Andrew Abbott. Two of our own graduated from college – Jessie Redd and Tim Parrott. Congratulations!
*We thank the Lord for the healthy birth of Ava Rae Smith on April 21, 2009 to Amanda Smith. She was 6 pounds, 4 ounces and 20 1/4 inches long and has a lot of black hair. Keith & Sue Smith are the happy grandparents and Sage is now a big brother.
*Last Saturday, Work Day rolled around as our congregation set out to complete some awaiting projects! Thanks to everyone who played a role in that! Click here to see some photos.
*This Sunday continued services with fellowship and an Easter Egg Hunt! We all had a great time, visiting with our brothers and sisters in Christ! Thank you to Valorie Jolibois for heading up this event! You can see photos here!
*Each Sunday we now have a staffed nursery for 3 year olds and younger during the last half (sermon time) of our Sunday worship. Beginning in August of this year we will offer a children’s church for those in second grade and younger. That too will only be during the sermon portion of our worship service.
*Sunday, April 5 – Easter Egg Hunt & Fellowship Meal: Each participant should bring one dozen plastic, candy filled eggs and their own Easter basket. All of our families are encourage to bring a bag of individually wrapped candy. We will also have a fellowship meal so bring a dish or two.
*On Sunday, March 29, our youth led our Sunday services ranging from delivering the sermon to creating graphics! Click here to see photos!
*Twenty eight of our youth and adults attended the Winterfest youth rally in Arlington, TX. Over 5000 attended the rally. The theme was “Love God – Love Others.”
*Fourteen senior saints attended our luncheon on Wednesday, January 14. The lunch was held at a Piccadilly Restaurant in Baton Rouge. After the group ate, Bro. Mike lead them in a short devotion. Our next luncheon will be on February 14.
* Over thirty of our church family attended the New Year’s Eve gumbo dinner. It was a great way to bring in the New Year.
*Thirteen young people from our youth group attended the Mini Map with Sonny Childs Ministries based in Arkansas. They got back on January 1st.
*Jed and Abby Smith are new parents of a baby girl! Colleen Evelyn Smith was born at 2:11pm on Thursday (12-18-08) a healthy 7lbs. 1.2oz and 19 1/2 inches long. We thank the Lord for this new little one.
* Brittany Abbott was baptized on August 30, 2008. Brittany is the daughter of Bro. Mike and Sherry Abbott. We are very thankful for her commit to Christ.
* The Lord added to His family this Thursday, August 7, 2008. Donna Dupuy gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ in baptism.
* Both of our Bible Bowl teams took first place last Saturday (8/2) in their divisions at the Goodwood Church of Christ in Baton Rouge. We are proud of them!
